A step-up ring allows you to fit a filter that has threads larger than your lens. If you have 77mm lens thread and want to fit an 82mm filter, you need a NISI STEP-UP ADAPTERRING TI 77-82MM.
The first number indicates which thread your lens has and the second number which thread your filter has.
